When to apply?

Students are encouraged to apply for accommodation in the year prior to commencement of studies. Application forms are made available each year from Open Day which usually falls on the first Saturday of August.

  • Returning residents:

Returning residents should complete a re-admissions form which is available from the Residential Office.

  • New local students:

The closing date for applications is 30th of November. Preliminary room allocations will take place after this date. We will continue to take applications until all beds are filled. Offers are made immediately following the announcement of VTAC offers [mid-January] each year. If offers are made prior to VTA offers, prospective residents can request an extension of time to accept their offer.

In the event of excess applications, a ballot will be conducted. Those not offered a room will be placed on a waiting list and offered a room as one becomes available.

  • New international students:

There are a number of places reserved for New International students each year. For your best chance of receiving an offer of on-campus accommodation, you should submit your application for accommodation together with, or soon after you submit your course application. Please complete all details on the application form including e-mail details.

(Please note: New International students should follow the procedures and instructions for application as advised through the Monash International Office).

Please note, offers are sent out electronically, therefore, all applicants must supply a valid and legible email address on the application form.

Mid year applications

The University has a smaller intake of students mid year. Some accommodation places become available due to graduations and International Exchange students returning home.

Applications for consideration for second semester should be lodged prior to June 15th 2010. Successful applicants will be notified approximately three weeks prior to the commencement of Semester 2 via e-mail.

Offer stage

In early January based on availability of rooms applicants will receive an Accommodation Offer Package containing the Letter of Offer, Residency Agreement and Fee Regulations via email.  Students with a multiple accommodation choice (example: (1) Gippsland (2) Caulfield (3) Peninsula) on their application will be made only one offer based on their first preference.

Once applicants have a confirmed place in a Monash University course, they will need to sign and return the Residency Agreement together with the Building and Amenities fee to Gippsland Residential by the closing date in order to accept the Accommodation offer.

Students who have a multiple accommodation choice on their application need to notify Gippsland Residential immediately if there is any change of preference in regard to their Monash University offer.

Confirmation Stage

An Applicants room is confirmed and accepted upon receipt of a signed Residency Agreement and Building & Amenities fee.
