Before cleaning staff arrive. Residents MUST:

  • Ensure that your unit is tidy.
  • Clear communal benches and tables of food, dishes and personal items.
  • Make sure there are no personal items in the common area. All personal items are stored away in cupboards or bedrooms prior to cleaners arrival.
  • Clear toilet and shower areas of any personal items (including clothes, towels and shoes).
  • Wash dishes and cooking equipment and store them away in the cupboards.
  • Empty your recycling at the recycling stations.
  • Empty communal bins on a regular basis.
  • Not cook while the cleaners are in your unit.

The following cleaning procedures will be followed through if residents do not adhere to the above:

  • The house will receive a verbal warning from a Monash Residential Services staff member.
  • The house will receive a written warning.
  • Each house member will incur a $30.00 charge for additional cleaning (Please note, cleaners can refuse to empty overflowing bins due to OHS issues and if called back in to empty the bins, the house will be billed for this expense).
  • Please note, cleaners are also required to replenish toilet paper on a weekly basis. If they forget to leave you toilet paper, please advise the residential office and we will chase it up. Toilet paper is not to be used for any other purposes or given to friends and family. If toilet paper is taken away from Gippsland Residential premises or used as paper towels, the entire unit will be charged for it's replacement.

Cleaning equipment is provided in each unit free of charge which you are encouraged to use for both the common areas and your bedrooms.
